KDE 4.2 (4.1.72) livecd

OpenSUSE team has released a new LiveCD KDE Four Live, with the lastest version of KDE 4.2 (at this moment still in development). The final version is planned to be released in January 2009.

This version (KDE 4.1.72) is based on OpenSUSE and it can be tested in any virtual machine such as VirtualBox, Qemu, VMware… (does anyone remember when we downloaded these kind of livecd’s and created a new partition and burned a cd in order to try these development releases?).

I have been trying this version and I have to say that it is really good. The desktop widgets have been improved and new ones have been added by default: a web browser, system monitor, etc. Also the kickoff menu has changed and now the integration with the theme is much better than before.

By the way, a few days ago, Distrowatch published an interesting comparison between KDE3 and KDE4.
